Biographische Notizen
Susanne Loewit wurde 1959 geboren, wuchs in Landeck auf und studierte Germanistik und Musik in Innsbruck.
Neben der künstlerischen Arbeit unterrichtet sie bis 2012 an verschiedenen Gymnasien. Ihre künstlerische Entwicklung ist über die Jahre in diversen Ausstellungen zu verfolgen.
Bis 2012 arbeitet Susanne Loewit vorwiegend in Öl, ergänzt durch Radierung, Linol- und Holzschnitt. Motive sind Landschaften und Architekturen als Sehnsuchtsorte, in denen alles Störende ausgeblendet ist. Der Fokus liegt auf Farbe und Form, Bildausschnitt und Kontur.
Zunehmend verstärkt sich die Auseinandersetzung mit der eigenen Biographie. Der Mensch wird Bild- und Untersuchungsgegenstand. Die Gouache tritt an die Stelle der Ölmalerei. Der technisch verkürzte Arbeitsprozess führt zu einer radikalen Veränderung der gemalten Oberfläche.
Biographical Notes
Susanne Loewit was born in 1959, grew up in Landeck and studied German and music at the University of Innsbruck.
In addition to her work as an artist she taught in different high schools till 2012. Her various exhibitions show her artistic development. Until 2012 Susanne Loewit primarily worked with oil, but also used techniques like etching, linocut and woodcut. Motifs are landscapes and architectures as places of longing, where all troubling aspects are blanked out. The focus is on colour and form, detail and outline.
Her own biography becomes increasingly important in her work. The human being becomes pictoral content and object of analysis. The technique of gouache replaces oil painting. The technically shortened work process leads to a radical change of the painted surface.
